4″ Heavy Pattern MJ or No Hub Coupling

4″ Shielded Mechanical joint (MJ) or no hub couplings connect Cast Iron hubless soil pipe and fittings in sanitary and drain waste and vent (DWV) applications. For non-pressure, gravity flow applications only. Recommended for above and underground installations. Easy to install and reuse.  Heavy pattern MJ couplings have bands along the entire length to combat “Hydraulic Jump”, pressure surges or unstable soil conditions, and provide a more rigid connection with more surface contact between coupling and pipe.

Heavy-duty coupling design utilizes additional band clamps along the entire length of the coupling, larger shields and longer gaskets, as compared to standard couplings. All heavy-pattern worm-gear band clamps are attached to the shield with a rivet through an elongated slot, which not only stabilizes the clamps during the tightening sequence, but also allows the clamps and shield to move independently, thus preventing uneven clamping force, binding and shieldcrimping. Durable 28-gauge stainless steel shields are corrugated, permitting even gasket compression and reduced buckling at the overlap. Full-pattern Neoprene rubber gasket is tear-resistant and internally beaded, to ensure a positive seal and mechanical joint, with greater pull-out resistance.
